Why is mental training important for the young goalkeeper?
It is necessary to build a steel mentality to overcome all the challenges of everyday life and to be a true leader on the field as a goalkeeper.
All of this is possible only thanks to the Original Method in Italy for mental training for young goalkeepers:
Give me a minute and I'll explain it to you better.
Watch the video!
It all started in 2015 when a blinding flash appeared before my eyes, causing me to jump out of my chair and stand up in the middle of a conference room full of people.
That flash was an idea… but in reality, more than just an idea, it turned out to be a true life mission.
Train young goalkeepers mentally and character-wise to develop them with great personality and
leadership through an
EFFECTIVE MENTAL TRAINING METHODOLOGY.
Everything is very nice, but there is a problem!
When I started this mental training work for young goalkeepers, the entire category of my fellow goalkeeper coaches, some parents, and industry professionals targeted me, telling me that it was impossible to work on the goalkeeper’s mind since this role only requires technique.
I spent the first years of my work where all my success stories were destroyed by insults without ever verifying the quality of my training.
I was on the verge of giving up because there were more backstabs than support and understanding.
It has been really tough.
However, I told myself: “I teach leadership, I teach how to have a positive mindset even when you are against everything and everyone. It is time to show that the Method works with strength and determination.”
They started to speak for me then hundreds of parents and young goalkeepers satisfied with the training path in mental training, and step by step I came out of the dark and cold tunnel, seeing the light and warmth again.

And on top of that the Education 2.0 Conference gave me the Outstanding Leadership Award in recognition of the contributions to the fields of education and learning.

From that moment on, the Method is considered the only and unique means to train young goalkeepers mentally and character-wise in Italy and beyond. In fact, all our live events and all our mental training sessions are now always sold out.
What are the positive effects of mental training for the young goalkeeper?
The goal of mental training for the young goalkeeper is precisely to make the child aware of what his character traits are that allow him to express all his potential during the game and in everyday life, at school, with friends, and at home.
The young goalkeeper, from his early years of discovering the role (6-11 years), may need to be supported by a professional trainer to become a true leader, not only on the field but also in everyday life.
Of course, it can be followed step by step, with practical work that involves specific and targeted interventions based on their young age and personal and sporting situation.
The important thing you need to pay a lot of attention to is that out there, if you go on Google and search for mental coaches or generic sports psychologists, you will find not professionals specialized in the role of the goalkeeper, but practitioners who use standard tools for any type of athlete and sport.
It is therefore advisable to find an expert in mental training for the young goalkeeper, who works every year with hundreds and hundreds of boys to enhance their personal and athletic talent, but above all to provide them with practical tools for:
Managing one’s emotions at school, at home, with friends, and on the field.
To gain more self-awareness
Increase his/her self-esteem
Develop a leadership and a steel character

If you find it and give your child the opportunity to be supported during his golden years of learning, then in a few years you will have a little man who:
He will walk around the house confidently.
It will become aware of personal and sports goals.
He will walk on his own with his own legs, facing with courage and confidence all the challenges that life will put in front of him.

What the Young Goalkeepers say
Young Goalkeeper Matteo
About GoalkeeperLeader Method
I started this program with Daniele several years ago. Back then, I was unaware of my strengths and felt insecure both on the field and around friends and schoolmates.
I’ve grown alongside him, and now I feel much stronger and more self-confident.
I would recommend this program to anyone who truly wants to improve both as a person and as a goalkeeper.
Young Goalkeeper Simone
About a GoalkeeperLeader's Event
My name is Simone Cobianchi, I’m 14 years old, and I’m from Parma.
I decided to join the Extreme Masterclass because it was a new experience for me; i had never participated before. I was impressed, and I really enjoyed it.
Mentally, I learned to have more confidence in myself and to listen to my teammates more, as they are part of your team. By involving them in dialogue, you can create a better team dynamic, bringing out the best in everyone.
In terms of character, I think I’ve learned to connect more with people I didn’t know before. I also made new friends from other cities, and I hope to see them again.
The activity I enjoyed the most was the first day of goalkeeping because it’s where I feel a bit stronger and better prepared, and I hope today will be the same.
After this experience, I feel I’ve improved both mentally as a goalkeeper leader and in my on-field performance.
I would recommend this to other goalkeepers because it’s a camp that’s different from the others. Here, you train your mind as well as your body, making it a unique and valuable experience.
Significant message from Daniele
The wonderful thing about a young goalkeeper is that he grows up with the dream of flying, of making an entire stadium shriek with his result-saving save.
He dreams of living the life of a number one with the light-heartedness of always feeling like a positive pillar who supports others.
Let’s remember this important passage of how a child feels as soon as he puts on goalkeeper gloves and stands there, right in the middle of a goal that seems enormous to him.
He’s a young goalkeeper who can’t wait to pick up the ball with his hands so that he can truly feel as one with the most beautiful role in the world and prove to himself that he is brave enough to wear the shirt with the number one written on the back.
No one has the right to destroy his dreams, his expectations or his desires with inappropriate behaviour during his training.
A young goalkeeper needs to stay in contact with professional trainers every day, people who understand his emotions, his moods, his expectations, his dreams and, above all, his true talent.
If out there you see, hear, sense that your young number one isn’t developing in a protected environment, help him find a solution that works on his character and his development in a way that’s healthy and performative for him.
A young goalkeeper also needs to go through the difficulties of the role, because they’re part of the game, but they still have to respect the person and the role he is playing.
A trainer has the obligation and responsibility of bring out the best in every boy, also thanks to the difficulties he experiences.
Clearly, because he’s also training him in what happens and will happen in life out in the big, wide world, where he’ll have to stand on his own two feet and face everyday challenges.
Therefore, my suggestion, if you wish to see your young goalkeeper become as strong and confident as a true number one on the pitch and in everyday life, is to find a professional method out there that enhances his true charisma as a youngster and as a goalkeeper.
The benefit you will receive will be to see him develop with confidence, determination, self-esteem, responsibility and courage.
You’ll be proud of every step he takes at school, at home, with friends and between the posts, because you too will also have had the extraordinary impact of having provided him with a fundamental tool for his development and he’ll be grateful to you for the rest of his life.
Yours affectionately,
Daniele Rolleri

Mother of Young Goalkeeper Pietro
About GoalkeeperLeader Method
I chose for my son Pietro to attend these sessions on the GoalkeeperLeader Method because I believe a goalkeeper must develop their leadership skills.
What convinced me the most is that a lot of work is done on character development. I think this is essential to help him grow into a strong and confident person and player, like a true Number One!
Father of Young Goalkeeper Brando
About a GoalkeeperLeader's Event
I chose to have Brando participate in the Masterclass because I felt he needed to work on his character, not so much on technique since technique is addressed by almost everyone. What he was missing was development in leadership and character.
I’ve seen him improve in terms of confidence, his relationship with his teammates, managing the defense within the group, and being able to communicate more effectively. He is now more involved and takes on a more prominent role, whereas before, he was somewhat on the sidelines due to shyness.
What helped him the most was the work done during the sessions and how everything is applied. I’ve also gotten to know my son in a different way because aspects like responsibility and meeting the commitments he makes have been brought out. I must say, he’s even improved significantly at school.
